The photo story:
“How did you do this photo!” is the standard question when people see this! This photo (including the colour) was achieved in the camera with traditional film techniques - not photoshop!
This photo demonstrates two techniques that have helped define my style of shooting.
First is the specific depiction of motion. I have spent many years experimenting with movement. Motion is a simple creative technique taught in some of my workshops. Where the fun starts is how you position the camera and how the camera is moving in relation to the other elements. Without giving away too much I will say the camera is moving and I worked as photographer and model (that is me on the bike!) - it was the only way I could achieve the results as I wanted!
The amazing colour was achieved with unusual manipulation of the film and processing with co-operation of a willing film lab. The process producesses a negative that, when printed, without correction, produces the beautiful yellow hues!
The photo was taken under the leafy canopy - that provides the watery effect - of the stunning Gatineau Park, minutes north of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. This is also where I live - for obvious reasons!
The Print:
Giclée Printing is performed by renowned printer, Dave Andrews, who has worked on high profile print jobs including Canadian money! All prints are printed and inspected by Dave Andrews - on the rare occasion Dave is unavailable (everyone needs a vacation!) your print may be created by another masterful printer.
