The Photo Story:

Often I attend a sports event to capture the speed, fun and action on film. On this day I scouted the course of the Elgin Street Criterium race to find the fun corners. My job is to convey the intensity of the event - beautifully. For some of these photos I am very close to races. To do this safely takes knowledge of racing AND photography! Once the race started the excitement climbed with each lap. The results are here.

Sadly the Elgin Street race is no longer. City of Ottawa ‘traffic calming’ road fixtures has made this race course unsafe.

The special effects in these photos were achieved through traditional motion techniques in the camera with an unusual film manipulation technique called ‘cross processing’ providing the beautiful yellow hues!

The Print:

Giclée Printing is performed by renowned printer, Dave Andrews, who has worked on high profile print jobs including Canadian money! All prints are printed and inspected by Dave Andrews - on the rare occasion Dave is unavailable (everyone needs a vacation!) your print may be created by another masterful printer.
